Taffeta is a crisp, plain-woven fabric made most often from silk, but it can also be woven with polyester, nylon, acetate, or other synthetic fibres. Taffeta fabric typically has a lustrous, shiny appearance. With a smooth feel, and a crisp hand, taffeta can be made from a variety of fibres including silk and rayon. It has a subtle horizontal ribbing effect and provides lots of body and an ultimate rustle. Taffeta can vary in weight from light to medium and in levels of sheerness, depending on the type of fibre used and the tightness of the weave.
